Fenta’s hygienic surface brightens Popeyes restaurants from Auckland to Invercargill
With their distinctive orange and white interiors, Popeyes Louisiana Chicken restaurants rely on Fenta™ Ceiling Tiles to provide a bright, clean background for their commercial kitchens.
Arriving in New Zealand in 2024, the chain’s flagship Auckland restaurant included Fenta Ceiling Tiles as part of its bespoke multi-million-dollar fitout, using the highly reflective surface to create a bright, easy-to-clean ceiling in the food prep area.
‘Our vision is to bring the heart and soul of our world-renowned recipes to Kiwis,’ says Sharn Phillips, Popeyes Head of Marketing, with 11 locations opening across the country in just two years.
In each of those restaurants, Bates Surfaces’ high-gloss, UV-cured Fenta Ceiling Tiles help to maximise light reflectance for brighter, more open-feeling interiors. Specialist restaurant designers Fitout Solutions say this ‘creates a space that not only looks great but functions efficiently and provides a warm and welcoming environment.’
Reducing visual clutter for modern fast-food interiors
Experts in surface coatings for more than 70 years, Bates Surfaces created Fenta as a pre-finished commercial ceiling tile, made with a quality fibre cement board and a UV-cured, antimicrobial finish.
For Popeyes, the high-gloss finish provides the light reflectance and clean aesthetic required for fast-food restaurant kitchens and customer-facing areas. It is one of the reasons Popeyes New Zealand has chosen Fenta in all its locations, creating visually consistent ceilings across the brand.
The large, 1200 x 600mm tiles help to reduce visual clutter, reflecting the trend in fast food restaurants for durable, minimalist interior design in fast-food restaurants.
Light reflectivity and lasting performance
Fenta’s highly reflective surface supports efficient lighting performance throughout food preparation areas. Better lighting can improve working conditions and enhance the overall perception of cleanliness and freshness for customers.
Fenta is also available in Matt White, which offers excellent light reflectivity where a softer, lower-sheen finish is preferred. Matt Black and Gloss Black options are also available, providing greater flexibility for different commercial interior schemes.
The UV-cured surface is stain and scratch resistant and will not fade or yellow over time. Water and moisture resistant, this hard, smooth surface is impregnated with an antimicrobial bio-silver additive to minimise the spread of bacteria, mould and mildew. With appropriate cleaning, Fenta maintains this antimicrobial effect and high gloss finish for the life of the tile.
In the short time the company has been operating, Popeyes restaurants have proved incredibly popular with Kiwis, just as Sharn Phillips hoped. The white, bright Fenta Ceiling Tiles help keep their interiors bright and clean, from Auckland to Invercargill.
